Sporting entities and athletes spending their time and efforts in doing good for the community is a generous gift that many unfortunate people and the community hold dear.
The Lae Snax Tigers the rugby league team participating in the PNG National Rugby League competition and paid a surprise visit to the Hospital to bring about cheer and hope to patients at the wards.
The visit was organised by the major sponsor Lae Biscuit Company with Sales and Marketing Coordinator Harry Kaisa initiating the visit through the PNG Rugby League in its efforts to use elite athletes as role models for children and citizens of this nation.
“The visit was a memorable one because the patients and some of the staff members had the opportunity to meet their local sporting heroes up close and personal.”
The team comprising of 24 players and staff were divided into two groups were they visited the cancer and children's ward. Where they handed out show bags and served lunch to the patients. They also took time out to speak to the patients and assured them to think positively in order for them to recover.
Before the players visited the wards they were given a tour around the hospital by the staff including the clinics, wards and admin offices which play an integral role in the service delivery of the hospital to the patients and public.
