ANGAU gets K4.3 mill worth of medical equipment

A total of 247 medical equipment were delivered to ANGAU Hospital with a few more pending deliveries to be done around mid-November as part of the National Fisheries Authority contribution to health care in the country.

This major donation of over K4.3 million from the National Fisheries Authority (NFA) was through the initiative of Late Dr Songli Soctine requesting funding for essential medical equipment for the hospital’s daily operations.

Redevelopment of ANGAU to bring improved Health Care Services

The Minister for National Planning and Monitoring, Hon. Richard Maru, MP, the Minister for Health and HIV/AIDS, Hon. Sir Puka Temu, MP and the Australian High Commissioner H. E. Bruce Davis visited Lae today to review the strong progress that is being made to redevelop ANGAU Hospital.  The redevelopment is progressing on schedule and will enable provision of improved health care for the people of Morobe Province and the Momase Region more broadly.

The visiting party, hosted by Governor of Morobe, Hon. Ginson Saonu, MP, took the opportunity to review the first phase of works at ANGAU Hospital, completed during 2016.

The 2017 World No Tobacco Day was celebrated at the Hospital with the Hospital Health Education Team conducting a Public awareness for the Hospital staff, patients and public.

With the theme of ''Tobacco a Threat to Development'' the Health Education team led by Sister Priscilla Kaivavore emphasized the risks of smoking and tobacco especially in young adults who tend to develop this habit at an early age thus making it become a habit for life that was hard to rid of.

Julie Bishop visits ANGAU

Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Julie Bishop has expressed her pleasure and satisfaction with the redevelopment of the ANGAU Memorial General Hospital and Lae School of Nursing.

During her visit to the hospital to witness the projects, Hon. Bishop visited the new post natal ward and the operating theater which are the projects implemented and built by AusAID funding.
