The Emergency Department is the port of entry to the hospital providing vital services in the health care system.
It runs 24 hours seven days a week. Services are provided for trauma to non-trauma, children to the elderly, walking wounded to the grossly debilitated, and almost every other cases are presented at the clinic.
Patients are seen and treated by priority of urgency by applying the internationally used triage category system to categorically classify and see patients based on urgency of illness.
Patients are initially stabilised, treated and are either discharged, kept overnight or admitted to the wards under different specialities.
At average, more than 5000 patients are seen every month.
